How to apply for a SASSA grant

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) pays social grants to people who qualify. Here's how to apply.

Types of SASSA grants

How to apply for the SRD grant online

  • Go to the official SRD website: srd.sassa.gov.za
  • Enter your South African ID number and cellphone number
  • Confirm the one-time PIN (OTP) sent to your phone
  • Fill in your personal and banking details
  • Accept the declaration and submit

Other grants

Apply at your nearest SASSA office. Bring your ID, proof of address, proof of income and bank details. Applications are free.
